so now I'm wondering

How many of those Steyr AUGs were there at the scene when Needles and Delaney left?

After all it would be a terrible thing to just leave guns laying around.

Action and adventure plus humor!

Like cream, Todd is rising to the top. The story and the story telling are both exceptional. This is what we look for but seldom find on the internet. This is some seriously good stuff!

You are the BEST...

I mean, "She attracts trouble? I'm thinking Delaney could sit on the couch eating cookies and watching TV in her pajamas and there's a good chance it'd end up in a shootout." ROFLMAO!

Your visuals and characters are simply amazing and highly intriguing enough to simply be automatic MUST READs every time you place fingers to keyboards.

I'm wondering when you turn pro on us?

The only thing I can compare this with is the movie Blood in, blood out. Profoundly immersing writing and the characters are so splendid in their creation the connection is immediate and real. I feel like taking this author hostage (in a real careful kinda way) meeting his every need and revelling in his creation. Thank you for what you do.

Thx for sharing

Always love your Shack stuff. But this is like the third installment on Needles and he might be the least interesting character. This was not as engaging or easy to read as some of your masterworks, but way above the floatsam and jetsam that LW has become.

Gimme a little Monster, or Blue Eyes, or their kith and kin.

Thank you for such a fun wonderful story.

You have created many great characters in your stories but none are better than Needles and Delaney. I hope there may be more about them in the future. Thanks.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 5 years ago

It’s worth the dollar to say that you have written an un-fucking-believable story AGAIN. More typos and editing errors than I was used to from you, and I still have trouble with Charlotte’s motivation, but I laughed more through this one than any other. Outstanding!

AnonymousAnonymousabout 5 years ago
I Agree!

With the above (or is it below?) comments. All of your ‘Shack’ characters are excellent. Delaney is about my favorite; she is like Monster only with a soul. You really should novelized these stories. A series of stories. And then screenplays. Oh hell, I forgot that you don’t work for me. Just a suggestion, then. I would buy anything that you write, and probably many others would as well. Stay Todd172 as a nom de plume. It’s perfect. Just sayin’. Thanks for writing. JPR

No Time for Gibble-Gabble

As multiple prior comments have vouched, this is pro-worthy. It had juicy supporting

oddball character parts , hiss-worthy villains, terse dialogue veering into humor lane . I really enjoyed the narrator's hospital visit with the gold digger ex. If I had to nitpick , there should have been a flash of what got him to ever commit to such a psychic disaster.

Loved the disparate settings as well from wrecking yard, the mountian king fortress , the jail . The closing reveal scene that paralleled the Maltese Falcon was cherry 🍒 on top of five star sundae.

Ergo the obvious score

Full marks *****

TheKrrakTheKrrakabout 5 years ago
Still the best

You are by far the best writer here on Lit, bar none.

The stories, the characters, the dialogue, the mannerisms, everything just blends together and brings them all alive (until killed, lol).

5/5 is the best I can give - but it's a lot more than that.

Please keep writing.

Here's my dollar for the jar. Worth that and more to get to hang out with Needles and Delaney (Sheree is pretty great, too). The banter exchanges between the characters remind me of some of my favorite Elmore Leonard, Joe R. Lansdale and Carl Hiaasen stories.

Todd's Scores

I went back to see how Todd's stories have been scored. The lowest score is 4.36, and the highest is 4.90. That pretty much says what kind of writer Todd is.

My only question is: Why weren't most of the stories 5's? Personally, I think 4.90 should be the lowest score.

Five star, as always

Your stories are unique. Characters and actions are well described the emotions implied. Quite the opposite of other well written tales here. I was hooked with Shameless, the first of yours I read and find each new character as much fun as the first. Thanks,

Unlike most of the LW tripe...

This is high quality, commercially publishable writing. It makes writers like David Baldacci look like amateurs. No, it's not deep, but the characters are well developed, the plotting is interesting and propels the story forward at a fast pace, and it has suspense, humor, and real attention to important detail to make things realistic (like Tom Clancy). If you says it's over the top, it is; lots of action stories are. What matters is creating characters that the reader cares about and a plot that draws a reader in. Todd172 accomplishes that with the help of his wife, who must be one hell of a woman. This is an order of magnitude beyond 5 stars.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 5 years ago
See, its writers like you that make the assholes who say, . . .

"What do you expect for free?" look like assholes. This is not what we expect for free, and we know what its worth. Thank you for being so talented, and generous.

One favor. Please let him keep the AUG's. And the AP ammo. For Delaney, for later.

Thanks again.

too much too fast

Enjoy the SHACK series very much. But this one dropped a notch. The characters are great along with character dialogue. But this one came across...for lack of a better term...busy. I am not a writer and probably have no business to critique, but this one for some reason was off compared to the others.

I call it a solid "4". Everything else in THE SHACK series so far has been a "5". Perhaps it was the story in a story aspect. The Mooky story would had been better as a stand alone with a bit more detail. But the Mooky minimal story line seemed to had added clutter to the primary story line.
