I wake up in the morning
It’s six am
You’re sleeping beside me
Safe and warm in bed
I snuggle closer
In your arms
You sigh in your sleep
Tightening them around me
I moan
Afraid to get up
Scared to leave you without me in bed
Scared to face the world alone
The alarm goes off
You squeeze me tight
The buzzing goes on
I must get up
I push your arms away
Releasing myself from your loving hold
Standing up
I look back at you
Still asleep
You hug my pillow
And doze

-for my boyfriend, who never seems to notice when I leave bed for work. I love you.
