I say I'm cut.
You say,
Like a diamond, pretty thing,
Planes and angles.
Each facet sparkling.

I say I'm hard.
You say,
Like a puzzle, challenging.
Figuring you out,
Gives my life meaning.

I say I'm mad.
You say,
As a hatter, little girl.
But I've never wanted more,
Than this mad, mad world.

I say you'll leave.
You say,
Only if you desire.
What am I if not yours?
And what are you, if not mine?

How does it happen
That you know just what to say?
That you never tire
Of showing me the way?
You know my heart, you know
That I hate this part of me,
That I can't stop fearing,
That you'll just abandon me.
I want you to yell!
Tell me I'm being ridiculous,
That I have to stop
Because I'm going to ruin this.

Every moment of love,
Every instant of wondering over you,
My heart weeps,
Convinced I'll lose this, too.
Where does it come from?
How did I come to be this way?
Will I be allowed joy,
Without panic holding sway?

I say I'm weak.
You say,
Weak like gravity.
Weak like my heart,
When I think of you leaving me.
