It's been
a slow withdrawal
a year in the making
I have clung
to the promising words
remained hopeful
because of the shared glances
and wished for more
when we brushed up
against each other
maybe it was
the false hope
you gave me
that kept me
grasping for
more of you
the playful smiles
the teasing tongue
or, just asking me when...
it was all an illusion
a fairy tale
that has no happy ending
I have no idea
why I am
waiting for nothing
