it was in 1936 ....
it happened in the then Calcutta
a Collegian was cyclin' home from St.Xavier's
a Motor-car whizzed by & knocked him down ....
the Driver was an Englishman
a member of the Rulin' Race , then
but he was kind 'n compassionate
he stopped , rushed out " my boy , my boy ...
are you alright ...My God ...how dreadful ....."
luckily it was just a skiddin' blow &
the young Indian slowly staggered to his feet...
the Englishman enveloped him in bear-hug " Thank God, you are safe .......Here's Ten Rupees ...& God Bless you & keep you safe ........"
they were Five young brothers , a sister
& a widowed Mother .....they
lived in Penury ....they saw the Ten Rupees
as a Godsend ....& were so hardened by
Cruel Circumstances they did Not ask their Brother
" How are you ? did you suffer bruises , cuts , injuries ???"
Years later their business prospered &
they became Multi-millionaires of Kolkata
[ of course after the Brits quit India ]
but when they reflected on that Incident
to a Person they felt ashamed @ their
Greed , Happiness , Callousness of
gaining Ten Rupees @ the cost of a
Grievous Accident to their dear Brother .......

[ I know of this as I am the son of one of the Five Brothers : this Really happened ]
