I make the bed, even though
I will be the only occupant
tonight, or perhaps this aft
if this headache persists
and I can forget our stolen
noon time pleasures.

Smoothing, stretching, the sheets
taut, tucking in the hospital
corners which always come
undone on my side.
The curse of being tall?
Fluffing the pillows and
Duvet just in case you come
back to share my body,
while it's still warm.

This is so lovely, the heartache to go with the headache, longing for someone you love, going through the motions. Nicely done.

That undertone of sadness....sigh....mine is a king sized and just as empty. 5 stars on this beauty.

I can really relate to this feeling, head- and sheetwise.
